In September of 2006, Dawn obtained her Advanced Certified Paralegal credential in Discovery through NALA and, in January of 2007, Dawn obtained her Advanced Certified Paralegal credential in Trial Practice through NALA.

ICAP Past President Receives NALA Affiliates Award and Outstanding Contribution Award

ICAP past-president, Donna F. Dupree, CLAS, was given the National Association of Legal Assistants (NALA) Affiliates Award at the NALA Convention, Affiliated Associations Awards Presentation on Wednesday, July 11, 2007, in New Orleans, Louisiana.  The Affiliate Awards are given in recognition of steadfast service and valuable contribution to the members’ affiliated associations.  Donna F. Dupree, CLAS, was also given the NALA Outstanding Contribution Award at the 32nd Annual Meeting on Friday, July 13, 2007.  The Affiliated Associations Outstanding Contribution Award recognizes exceptional achievement in leadership and service to a NALA affiliated association.

Donna was nominated by ICAP’s board members due to her service to ICAP and NALA and her dedication to the paralegal profession.  We are pleased that NALA agreed, and congratulate Donna on this achievement.

Donna has been a legal professional for twenty years and a paralegal/legal assistant for fifteen years.  Her dedication to the paralegal profession on a local and national level is evidenced in her involvement with ICAP and NALA over the past nine years.

Donna has been a member of ICAP since 1998 and a member of NALA since 2001.  Donna has served on ICAP’s board of directors for the years 1999, 2000, 2001, 2003, 2004, 2006, and 2007.  During her tenure on the board, she has served as President (2006), Vice President (2003 -2004), Treasurer (1999-2001), and Board advisor (2007).  In addition she was the co-editor for ICAPtions, ICAP’s quarterly newsletter (2006) and served as co-chair of the Education Committee in 2001.  She was ICAP’s first NALA Liaison (2003-2006) and was instrumental in ICAP becoming a NALA affiliate.

Donna is the chairperson of ICAP’s CLA Review Committee.  In 2004, Donna taught a CLA examination preparation course at UC Riverside Extension Center.  Building on that experience, Donna has spearheaded ICAP’s efforts to prepare paralegals with the San Bernardino and Riverside county areas for the CLA/CP exam and achieve their CLA/CP designation.

Donna is one of two paralegals in the State of California and one of forty-eight paralegals in the nation to have earned the NALA’s CLAS credential in the field of Bankruptcy Law.

Donna also serves as a liaison between ICAP and the Inland Empire Foster Parent Association (“IEFPA”).  In an effort to become more involved with the greater community, ICAP’s board of directors in 2006 elected to assist with fund raising efforts for the IEFPA by holding a special opportunity drawing at each general membership meeting.  IEFPA supports and promotes foster parents and children within San Bernardino and Riverside counties.

Donna has been employed by the Department of Justice/Office of the United States Trustee since October 31, 2005, and prior to that time was employed by Best Best & Krieger, LLP, for seven years as the firm’s sole bankruptcy paralegal.

Congratulations Donna!
